Hi there! 

We're Scott and Jennie McInnes! 

We started Firefly Theatre Academy in 2016 while we were living in Burlington, Ontario.  We are both elementary school teachers teaching music and drama at the time.  We had crazy talented kids in our schools, and we wanted to offer them more opportunities to perform!  It was an amazing success and we had so much fun doing Broadway Jr shows in summer camps and fall classes.  When we moved back to the Holstein area we were excited to bring Firefly to all the talented kids here too!  

Having twins in 2019 and then Covid in 2020 meant that Firefly was put on standby, but we are now READY to start doing SUMMER YOUTH THEATRE AGAIN!  

Scott is currently the Music teacher at Egremont Community School.  He has his Drama Specialist teaching degree from Queen's University, and his Acting Degree from Ryerson University.  

Jennie is currently the Kindergarten teacher at Egremont Community School, and helps to run The Dance Academy of Mount Forest.  Her background in dance and music makes her a perfect fit with Scott for theatrical productions, as she brings the choreography and music to Scott's acting and directing! 

Together, we are a dynamic duo who are able to help kids find their full potential and truly shine on stage.  

Our favourite part is standing in the wings, watching kids who just weeks before were timid and shy, completely command the stage singing their hearts out.  It's amazing to see them transform, gain confidence, take responsibility for each other, work as an incredible team and simply just shine.
